How "In the Field" Content Can Help With B2B Recruitment

Published

Let’s get into the mind of someone looking for a job.

They’ll log onto Instagram, not necessarily on the job search, and see your page with...

Nothing.

Now, in some instances, this won’t matter at all. They’ll recognize that Instagram isn’t a priority for your company or simply not care about the lack of a social media presence. Regardless, those people aren’t who this article is about.

This post is about the person who will see that your company has no social media presence and subsequently decide that your company lacks legitimacy. Like it or not, being active on social media serves as evidence that your company is actually prospering. When your prospect inevitably looks up your social media, they’re going to be searching for answers to questions they have about your company, and a dead page will do nothing more than leave a negative impression.

Ok, sure, we need to be posting on social media. But why does it have to be fieldwork? Why can’t it be pictures of our products and testimonials from our clients?

I thought you’d never ask.

First of all, it’s important to note that there is a place for those things on social media. We’re a big fan of “Testimonial Tuesdays,” a campaign where we post a customer testimonial on an account to show off how successful that company is. We also will post about products that your company sells if you ask for it. That said, those things are all on your website anyway, and it's not like that content is the most engaging stuff in the world. There’s a place for it, but there’s a much better way to show off your business.

Getting in the field has incredible upside and is really not a ton of work to shoot. Here’s an example of what we mean:

Mud Turtle isn’t B2B, but the point gets across pretty well nonetheless. This video of someone in the field, doing labor, did quite well (almost 5k views, compared to their average of around 2k). It illustrates exactly what Mud Turtle does, all while not being incredibly over the top. To a potential employee, this illustrates what a “day in the life” could look like. It answers questions that someone in this field will have and proves that the company is actively posting. It also is attractive, well-made content that will perform well on Instagram, subsequently getting your video in front of potential employees.

When people see good content from the field, they understand what being in the field is like. If that experience seems enjoyable, they’ll want to work for you. We specialize in making what may feel like an ordinary day on the job look incredibly appealing.
